DIY Dollar Store Gift Basket Ideas

DIY Grilling Gift Basket

Place the stencil onto the oven mitt and use stencil tape to hold it in place. Dip your stencil brush into the multi-surface paint and offload most of it. Pounce the paint onto the oven mitt until the entire stencil is covered. Carefully lift the stencil tape and peel the stencil away. Let the mitt dry completely and assemble the gift by placing it onto a tin foil pan with the cookbook, tongs, and sauce.

I grabbed a few of these supplies for this Dollar Tree gift idea. For this project, I placed a stencil onto a pot holder and taped it into place. I used some Apple Barrel white paint and painted over the top of the stencil. Then I peeled off the stencil and let it dry. I placed the potholder into a baking pan and then added a cookbook, some seasonings, and some tongs, and my gift was ready.

Baseball DIY Gift Basket

Do you want an easy baseball gift? Personalize this project, and it is easily adjustable, eco-friendly, and great for so many occasions.

For this baseball gift project, I grabbed a dollar store glass and then placed an adhesive stencil on it. I used some etching cream and put that over the top of the stencil. I let it sit for about 10 minutes, and then I washed that off and peeled off the stencil, cleaned it all up, and I had this beautiful etched glass.

You can do this to any glass for any occasion. What I’m doing is making it into a gift basket. So, I took a baseball cap and I flipped it upside down, added some treats to it as well as the glass.

See the full directions to make this gift here: Easy Baseball Gift Customizable DIY.

Garden DIY Gift Basket

I added the chalk so they would have it for the garden markers. I added pruners to help care and shape the plants. I added items that would be helpful in the kitchen to use the herbs like the scissors, pizza cutter, and rubber scraper. I placed them into the dirt representing flowers or the plant.

Need another idea for a gift basket for the gardener you know? All of these items are from the dollar store. These are great gift for kids to make for Mother’s or Father’s day. Learn how to make the Easy Garden Gift Basket DIY.

Candy DIY Dollar Tree Gifts

NonFlower Bouquet DIY Dollar Tree Gift

Here's an example of what your finished project could look like:

For this gift idea, you’re going to need dollar store items like a bucket, some skewers, and some Oreos. Add some rocks to the bucket to make it stable.

Take your skewers and break them in a variety of sizes. Tape the Oreos to the skewers and place them in the bucket. Add some ribbon, and your gift is ready.

See the full DIY instructions here: Non Flower Bouquets: Easy DIY Gifts on a Budget.

Vase Flower Boquet DIY Dollar Tree Gift Idea

Here's an example of what your finished project could look like

For this flower gift, you’re going to need some chocolates and some faux flowers. Add glue to the center of each flower and then place your chocolate or candy on top. I like to use truffles but you could use another type of chocolate like Hershey’s kisses. Add your flowers into a vase of your choice. You now have a fun flower candy bouquet. See the tutorial here: Non Flower Bouquets: Easy DIY Gifts on a Budget.

Candy Bouquet Gift Basket

Tape the snacks onto the skewers. Stick the skewers into one of the socks to make a candy bouquet. Wrap the other sock around the bouquet and tie it into place. Assemble the gift by placing the popcorn, movies, and candy bouquet inside the basket.

For this project, you’re going to need a popcorn tub, some socks, some candy, and some movies.

Tape some skewers to the back of all of the candy pieces. Slide the candy pieces into one of the socks and wrap the second sock around and tie it in place. Place all of the items in the bucket, and you have yourself a fun gift.

Mug DIY Dollar Tree Gifts

Stencil Mug DIY Dollar Tree Gift

Clean the surface of the coffee cup. Place the stencil onto the cup and use stencil tape to add extra room. Dip your stencil brush into the multi-surface paint and offload most of it. Pounce the paint onto the stencil until it's fully covered. Let the paint dry completely before removing the stencil.

For this mug gift, take a white mug and start by cleaning it with a rubbing alcohol prep pad. Next, place an adhesive stencil on top. I added some addition stencil tape around this one to protect the edges so I wouldn’t get paint on them.

I dip my stencil brush into the paint, offloaded as much as I could, and then I tapped that paint onto the stencil. Once the stencil was coated, I removed the stencil tape and carefully peeled off the stencil while it was still wet. Let it dry completely before moving on.

If you’re not comfortable with paint, you can easily add one of their decals from the store. Add some coffee to it, and your little gift is complete.

Cozy Mug DIY Gift

I then took the cup and slid the cuff of the sock onto the mug. I slid it about halfway up until it looked like this. I created a really cute coffee cozy for my travel mug.

For this coffee mug project, you’ll need a travel mug. This one I picked up at Dollar Tree. You’ll also need some socks in any variety or styles you like.

I cut the ankle off the socks with scissors. I then took the cup and slid the cuff of the sock onto the mug. I slid it about halfway up until it looked like this.

You now have an easy gift idea that you can give any time of year to anyone.

Wood Burning DIY Dollar Store Gift Ideas

It is recommended that you use the opposite side to cut food as the integrity of the cutting board has been compromised.

For this wood burning project, you’re going to need a dollar store wood cutting board. Grab a message that someone has written to you, and print it out. Be sure to make a copy of it so you won’t ruin the first one.

Grab some transfer paper, place it underneath, and trace it onto the cutting board. Peel it back to reveal the transfer. Now, warm up your wood burning tool and trace over all of the letters. You now have a custom cutting board with a love message on it.

I have also wood burned wooden utensils. These are great for when you bring utensils to a pot luck and they make great gifts.

You can use the same idea on some wooden spoons and utensils. All I did was write some words that I liked. I used my wood burning tool to trace over the words and burn it into the handles. I added the utensils to an oven mitt or an oven pad as a gift for a baker or chef.

DIY Dollar Tree Game

I stacked the game back up according to the package directions.

Grab one of the wood block games and write words onto each cube. As you play the game, shout out memories or ideas or things that you like that are associated with the words written on the Tumble Tower game. Kids love to play this game.

Hand & Body Scrub DIY Gift

Are you looking for a sugar scrub for hands? I have a super easy and inexpensive recipe for you that has amazing results. Guess what? It makes a fantastic gift idea for any occasion too!

Make your own natural hand and body scrub from just a few ingredients.

Start by placing 1/2 cup of sugar or salt in a bowl. That’s the exfoliant. Now we’re going to add the moisturizer. Add any oil of your choice: coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil, whatever you prefer. Add 1/4 cup of oil.

Now, you could stop here, but I add some lemon juice to mine. I like to add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. You could alternatively use essential oil or you could use vanilla extract.

Mix it together really well and place it in a jar. You now have an easy natural hand and body scrub to give as a gift. Body scrubs are great gifts to make for a mom during the holiday season or for Mother’s Day. Decorate the lid of the mason jar if you want to personalize it.

Indoor Firepit DIY Gift

This is a great emergency heat source it, can be used inside or out.

For this indoor firepit project, I took a wire basket, placed in some glass rocks, a glass container, and a Sterno can. Then add more glass rocks to surround the Sterno can. It makes an indoor or outdoor fire pit for anyone to use for any occasion and makes a fun holiday gift in the winter.

Photo DIY Dollar Tree Gifts

Kitchen Photo DIY Dollar Tree Gift Ideas

Let the mug dry completely, and then let it air dry for 3-4 days, or bake it according to the package instructions.

For this photo project, I’m using some water slide decal transfer paper. You can print anything you want on it. I printed out some artwork that my daughter had made. I spray painted it with some clear sealer. Then you put it in water and then place it onto your dollar store glass. Slide out the backing so that the transfer sticks.

Your dishtowel is ready to use, and be sure to wash it according to the package instructions.

So, for this one, I’m using some print and iron-on transfer paper, and again, you can use any design you would like. I ironed a dish towel for this photo project. Then I printed out some of my son’s handprints that he had made into art. I ironed it onto the dish towel, preserving that artwork. But again, this could be adapted for any gift occasion.

DIY Photo Lantern

Do you want an easy photo lantern and/or Memorial Day Craft? I have a super easy project for you that can celebrate an occasion or someone special.

For this photo project, I grabbed a lantern and I pulled it apart. I printed out four pictures. Now, these could be celebrating any occasion or any holiday.

I placed those onto the glass panels inside of the lantern. Alternatively, you could put them on the outside of the lantern instead, but this way, the glass protects the pictures. I put the whole lantern back together, and the candle makes a nice added glow through the photo at night.

Personalized Coasters

For this gift project, I grabbed some wooden coasters and a wood-burning tool. I just drew onto the coasters a design and created personalized coasters.

I have also made coasters. Once you get started the possibilities are endless - anything that's wood.

Another option is to grab some coasters, doesn’t matter what kind, or ceramic tiles, and place a Mod Podge onto the coaster. Print out some pictures and place them on top of the Mod Podge. Add another layer of Mod Podge over top to seal the coasters to protect the pictures from drinks. You’ve created custom coasters for a gift.

I love the bright vivid pictures, and look forward to using these.

Another option, take those same coasters and paint them with a layer of chalkboard paint. Season them with the chalk, and they’re ready to use. You can reuse them again and again. Write fun, different, and festive ideas for every occasion.

I like to make gifts for all occasions and coasters are a useful item many people need. I have come up with 3 different coasters that are easy to make.

We're going to be talking about some more ideas but let's just show how this could be used in a gift idea so I've taken this Dollar Store mug and I stenciled it with some paint that was safe for glass follow the instructions.  I can throw that in the dishwasher as well. Iron On Transfer DIY Gifts

I love how this little onesie turned out and I made it for a friend who is having a baby. Using iron on patches is an easy way to create the following:

For these next Dollar Tree gift ideas, I grabbed some of their iron-on transfers. I also grabbed other dollar tree items like a pouch, a shirt, and a baby onesie. You could grab a variety of items.

I followed the iron-on transfer instructions and ironed them onto each of the items. I created several gift ideas with this little easy idea. See how to make these here: 3 Super Easy Iron On Patch Instructions with Video.

Are you wondering how to decorate a tote bag? I have a few super easy ideas and all you'll need are a few supplies from Dollar Tree

Along the same idea as the iron-on patches, I found a bunch of their rub-on transfers I wanted to work with to make more gifts.

Once the entire design is transferred I'm going to peel it up. If some part of the transfer doesn't come off easily stop, place it back down and scratch over it again.

I used a variety of things like a backpack, bags, more pouches. But, you could again use this on glasses and so many more items.

I opened the package, peeled off the back, rubbed the transfer onto each of the items. I peeled it off, and I made these great DIY Dollar Tree gifts. See how to use the rub on transfers.

You can create custom bags by just grabbing a dollar store bag and a dollar store stencil and some white paint. I placed the stencil on the bag and painted over the stencil, peeled it off, let it dry, and now I have a custom bag.

You can customize these for any occasion, any holiday, and it makes a great gift idea. Or, make several as gift bags or treat bags.

DIY Grateful Boards

After a challenging year of several surgeries and breast cancer, it was recommended to me that I write down 3 things I'm grateful for every morning to keep my spirits up. I decided to create a reusable grateful board to start practicing this as we move into the new year.

Now, this DIY is so easy and blend with any decor. Grab a picture frame from Dollar Store and take it apart. Here I used a placemat that I found that I liked as the background. You can adjust this for any background. I put the whole picture frame back together.

We use a dry-erase marker to write things that we’re grateful for on it. We can erase and reuse it. Now, you can adjust this for any season or any list checklist that you would like to use on it.

For the complete instructions, see DIY Reusable Grateful Board.

DIY Kitchen Trivet

Use to place your hot pots, pans, or casserole dishes on to keep your table safe.

For this kitchen gift project, I used some Dollar Store felt and fabric. I took two pieces of the felt, and in between them, I used some old paper from a phone book. You could use newspaper, magazines, anything you like, and then I hot glued that together. On top, I placed a piece of fabric to give it a decorative look. This trivet gift can be used all year round.
