Dollar Tree Halloween Crafts
Creepy OUtdoor Halloween Decorations
This is a fun project you can do using materials from your local dollar tree store, thrift store or craft store. You can usually find a wide variety of creepy skeletons in the Halloween section.
DIY Skeleton in a Cage Supplies Needed
- 2 wire trash cans
- 1 skeleton
- pipe cleaners or zip ties
instructions for the skeleton cage
1. tie skeleton to the trash can
I removed the knot that came with the skeleton, and I tied it to the bottom of the trash can.
2. stack the trash cans
Stack the trash cans with the skeleton inside.
3. Adhere the trash cans together
I used pipe cleaners to make the trashcans stay together. I would have used Dollar Tree zip ties but they were out of stock at all of our stores.
4. Add chains to the top
I had a Dollar Tree flower hanging basket, so I removed the chains from the basket it and used them on the top of the trash can where the skeleton head is.
5. Hang your skeleton outside
I created a second cage and this time I put a skeleton mermaid from Dollar Tree inside the cage. I used black paracord to tie the trash cans together and hang the cage.
This skeleton cage is made from 2 Dollar Tree laundry baskets. I used black spray paint on the laundry baskets, added a skeleton and chains from Walmart, and hot glued the laundry baskets together. This project cost about $20 to make.
This skeleton cage would be great to hang on the front porch to welcome trick-or-treaters
How do you create a mummy door?
This is a great way to decorate your front door for Halloween! I taped strips of toilet paper (or you could use crepe paper or fabric) to your door. I added a couple of eyes I found from the dollar store. You can find the full tutorial at Easy Halloween Yard Decor.

Upcycled Dollar Store Owls
I have been wanting some silver owls for my home, but some places sell them for a lot of money!!! I ran across these owl salt and pepper shakers at Dollar Tree (love that place) and knew with a little spray paint I could upcycle them to those expensive ones I wanted for a lot less money. Easy dollar store Halloween Wreath
It’s my favorite time of year and I love creating decor for it. I had a bunch of kids and teenagers over for a Halloween get-together and we made spooky Halloween wreaths. Super Easy Halloween Decor
Make A Mummy Jar – Using a recycled jar, 2 google eyes, and gauze to the jar, I was able to create a mummy for Halloween. Add a battery-operated tea light and he’s ready to glow. If you use a bigger jar or bowl this could easily be a fun Halloween candy jar.
Make A Trash Bag Cobweb – Fold some trash bags up and use scissors to cut them. They’ll hang on your windows with static cling.
Recycled Jug Ghosts – Draw faces on one side or your recycled jug with a permanent marker. Kids will really have fun doing this too. *Dry erase markers work great for younger kids with this project!

All you need is one foam pumpkin and there are so many ways to have fun with it! This is an easy project and you can probably use craft supplies you have around the house. It is great for kids, girl’s night out, Halloween parties, party favors, etc. Could easily be amended for a simple fall or Thanksgiving decoration as well. Here are some easy Dollar Tree Halloween decorations you can make in addition to the above:
- Halloween Frames and add spooky pictures or old photographs that you print out.
- Make metallic Skull Door Knocker
- Use candle Holders and white candles around your home
- Use Dollar Tree Skeletons to create a skeleton garland
- Use plastic Skulls and a wreath form or foam wreath to make a skull wreath
- Black Bats – hang them around the house for creepy decor
- Make a spider vase by using a hot glue gun and add glue strings all around the vase.
- Add glow sticks to a plastic pumpkin for a light up walkway on Halloween night.
