Dollar Tree Halloween Crafts - DIY Skeleton in a Cage Supplies Needed

Creepy OUtdoor Halloween Decorations

This is a fun project you can do using materials from your local dollar tree store, thrift store or craft store. You can usually find a wide variety of creepy skeletons in the Halloween section.

DIY Skeleton in a Cage Supplies Needed

  • 2 wire trash cans
  • 1 skeleton
  • pipe cleaners or zip ties

I removed the knot that came with the skeleton, and I tied it to the bottom of the trash can.

I used pipe cleaners to make the trashcans stay together. I would have used Dollar Tree zip ties but they were out of stock at all of our stores.

I had a Dollar Tree flower hanging basket, so I removed the chains from the basket it and used them on the top of the trash can where the skeleton head is.

Dollar Tree Halloween crafts, I created a second cage and this time I put a skeleton mermaid from Dollar Tree inside the cage.  I used black paracord to tie the trash cans together and hang the cage.

Dollar Tree Halloween CraftsThis skeleton cage is made from 2 Dollar Tree laundry baskets.  I spray painted the laundry baskets black, added a skeleton and chains from Walmart, and hot glued the laundry baskets together.  This project cost about $20 to make.

How do you create a mummy door?

This is a great way to decorate your front door for Halloween! I taped strips of toilet paper (or you could use crepe paper or fabric) to your door. I added a couple of eyes I found from the dollar store. You can find the full tutorial at Easy Halloween Yard Decor.

Super Easy Halloween Decor

Make A Mummy Jar – Using a recycled jar, 2 google eyes, and gauze to the jar, I was able to create a mummy for Halloween. Add a battery-operated tea light and he’s ready to glow. If you use a bigger jar or bowl this could easily be a fun Halloween candy jar.

Make A Trash Bag Cobweb – Fold some trash bags up and use scissors to cut them. They’ll hang on your windows with static cling.

Recycled Jug Ghosts – Draw faces on one side or your recycled jug with a permanent marker.  Kids will really have fun doing this too.  *Dry erase markers work great for younger kids with this project!

Here are some easy Dollar Tree Halloween decorations you can make in addition to the above:

  • Halloween Frames and add spooky pictures or old photographs that you print out.
  • Make metallic Skull Door Knocker
  • Use candle Holders and white candles around your home
  • Use Dollar Tree Skeletons to create a skeleton garland
  • Use plastic Skulls and a wreath form or foam wreath to make a skull wreath
  • Black Bats – hang them around the house for creepy decor
  • Make a spider vase by using a hot glue gun and add glue strings all around the vase.
  • Add glow sticks to a plastic pumpkin for a light up walkway on Halloween night.
