Mosaic Terra Cotta Flower Pots

Outdoor· Summer

Share it with others!

I had some chipped dishes and a sparkling juice glass I wanted to recycle. I created a mosaic flower pot with the items. This was my first time creating a mosaic and using grout.

I took the broken dishes and glass bottle, placed them into a plastic bag, and pounded a hammer onto the dishes to created the mosaic pieces. I emptied them onto paper plates.

I coated a terra cotta flower pot with Simple Fix Pre-Mixed Adhesive & Grout.

I placed the broken glass pieces carefully onto the flower pot. I started by using gloves but it became difficult as the gloves were clunky. I decided to carefully lift up the pieces and put them into place.

I let the piece dry over night.

blank

I coated the entire piece with grout using a knife to smear it on like cake frosting.

blank

Using a damp rag, I wiped away the grout off the dishes. I rinsed the rag out if it got too full of the grout mixture.

blank

I let the piece dry for 24 hours to become solid.

blank

I placed some mint in it and set it on a table outside.

blank

I’m thrilled with how it turned out.

blank

I also created another flower pot with the same technique using bottle caps.

blank

For this flower pot, I painted the flower pot with Folk Art Chalkboard Paint.

blank

I then used black E6000 to glue on cut up CD pieces. I let it dry completely and placed it outside.
