1. Glue the mop Into The Hat

winter gnomes instructions

1. Glue the mop Into The Hat

The first thing I will do is remove the tags from the hat. Next, I’m going to take the mop head stick it all the way up inside the hat and then I’m going to spread out the bottom of the mop. If possible you can stick your hot glue-up gun inside the hat. My glue gun is big, so instead, I will add hot glue to the mop head attachment. As you can see the glue is steaming which means the glue is super hot so I need to be careful. It also takes a bit longer to dry.

Once you have glue on the mop head attachment, place it all the way up inside the hat and make sure it is well adhered

Once you have glue on the mop head attachment, place it all the way up inside the hat and make sure it is well adhered. If you end up with some extra space at the top of the hat you can always stuff it with some bags or other supplies you have on hand.

For the next step, I’m going to put some hot glue on the ornament and this will serve as my gnome nose. Place the ornament just below the edge of the hat.

You can leave the gnome beard braided like the original mop or you can un-weave the strands to create a fuller beard. It’s really up to you.

I’m going to quickly put together a second gnome and then we’ll talk about how to use your Christmas gnomes. So for the second gnome, I will leave the beard braided. Just like before I will secure the mop head attachment inside the hat with hot glue. The great thing about hot glue is you can work with it a bit to get everything placed just the way you want it. For this one, I folded the hat up a little bit more so I could get a little more beard showing. I glued the fold up so it would stay in place. Next, I will place the nose and let that cool.

Now I will show you a couple of ways to use these cute gnomes. If you have a bottle of sparkling wine or grape juice or even wine you can cover the bottle with a sock & slide the gnome on top. You can place them just about anywhere in your house. You could also tie a string to the hat and hang them on a door like a wreath. This would be a fun alternative to traditional Christmas wreaths. You could really hang these gnomes anywhere in your house.
