Easy and Super Cute Flower Pot Scarecrow DIY For Your Home
Are you ready for a DIY scarecrow flowerpot? In the past, I made a flower pot Nutcracker. He was so much fun to make, that I decided to try making flower pot scarecrows. This is the perfect way to try using terracotta pots in a unique way to create an easy fall craft!

To make this flower pot scarecrow I used 3 terracotta flower pots.
The first flower pot I painted with Folk Art Home Decor Chalk paint.
The larger portion would be the face and I used the color Sheepskin. For the rim, I used Vintage Mustard. I set that aside to dry.
The second flower pot I flipped upside down and slipped over a child’s shirt for the top of the body. For this, you can really use any old clothes you have on hand.
I cut off the excess and then used Mod Podge to adhere the shirt around the rim to the inside of the flower pot.
On the 3rd flower pot, I painted Mod Podge onto it.
I then took a pair of old jeans, cut them, and stuck them in the flower pot.
I then painted Mod Podge over the top of the jeans. I let this dry completely.
On the first flower pot (head) I hot glued some raffia onto the rim for hair. You could also glue strips of hay. For the scarecrow face, I hot glued two buttons for the eyes.
I painted on a nose with Apple Barrel Outrageous Orange Multi-Surface Acrylic paint.
I drew a mouth with a black permanent marker.
I put silicone on the edge of the bottom flower pot, and I stuck the body together.
I then put silicone on the top of the shirt flower pot and placed the head onto that.
I used a little hot glue and placed a little raffia where the shirt didn’t quite come together on the flower pot.
I added a rope for a belt and secured the sleeves in the back with a rubber band.
To finish him I could either add a straw hat.
Or make him a scarecrow planter & I could plant mums in him. I decided to start here and when the mums die, I can put the hat on him. Did you ever think you could make a scarecrow from flower pots, and Isn’t this scarecrow flower pot cute? Terra cotta pots could be used to make all kinds of flower pot men using small flower pots or larger pots. You can make a quirky flower pot man with different facial features and clothes. These can be a fun addition to your vegetable garden, yard or front porch.

Hi,
I’m almost done making the scarecrow terracotta craft but having trouble keeping them the pots glued together.
Any ideas will help. What kind of silicone sealer did you use.
Thanks
Michelle
How do I send you the pictures of my finished scarecrows.
Thanks Michelle.
Love it so adorable for fall Can I use Hot glue to put the pots together with? Thanks for sharing
Thank you, Peggy. I don’t recommend hot glue because it doesn’t hold up well to hot and cold fluxuation. I like to use silicone.
are you kidding me. Totally adorable and doable
Thank you so much
