Freeze your freezable ice cubes and this photo shows reusable ice packs in the freezer door.

Step 6: Freeze Ice Cubes

Freeze your reusable ice cubes.

Step 7: Add Ice or Treat to Egg

Place your reusable ice cubes into the plastic egg. Or your desired treat if not using it for “boo-boos.”  Close the egg.

When looking for ice cubes look for distilled water inside just in case it leaks. You’ll also want to hand wash the ice cubes and eggs, they’re not dishwasher safe.

Place the egg in the center of the bunny.

Step 8: Position Egg

Place the egg in the center of the bunny.

Use different colored wash clothes for different colored bunnies. This photo shows a brown boo boo bunny with a blue nose and the white bunny with pink nose that is demonstrated in photos.

If using as a boo boo bunny, hold the bunny and ice cubes over the “boo boo” and it’ll feel better soon.

To use as an ice pack, hold the bunny and ice cubes over the “injury” and it’ll feel better soon. A regular ice cube will work in the egg, too. Use the washcloth bunny to absorb the water as the ice melts.

How To Make A Bunny For Boo Boos Q & A

How do you make a boo boo bunny or washcloth bunny?

Take a washcloth and roll both sides in, fold in half, add a rubber band, fold front up to make a face and ears, and add a second rubber band. Glue on a face, and add an egg with reusable ice cubes in the center.

What are boo boo bunnies for?

Boo boo bunnies are a quick craft project made from a washcloth, designed to soothe young children with bumps and bruises. The bunny holds ice in an egg in the center. Keep boo boo bunnies nearby in a first-aid kit to apply ice to minor injuries.

What type of ice cube can I use in the boo boo bunny?

Reusable ice cubes work great in the bunny. While you can use regular ice, be prepared for the ice to melt. Have a paper towel nearby to absorb the melted ice, or simply use the washcloth of the boo boo bunny to soak up the water.

What color of washcloths work best for boo boo bunnies?

Use any color of washcloth to make your boo boo bunny. Try using a set of pastel washcloths. Pastel colors are fun, especially during bunny season or spring. For our tutorial, we used brown and white washcloths with blue and pink noses.

Why are Boo boo bunnies the perfect addition to first-aid kits?

For toddlers and small children, a boo boo bunny is a cute way to soothe tears that come from common scrapes, bumps, and bruises. Keep boo boo bunnies in your first-aid kit to immediately grab to apply ice to minor injuries. Boo boo bunnies are a quick project but offer more than just a way to ice a small child’s bruise. The cute and comforting bunny design is appealing to young children, helping to distract and comfort them while hurt or even just have an itch.
