Our traditional turkey soup recipe

Every year after we make our turkey for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or both, we have a tradition of making this soup. We make a huge batch and freeze part. This allows us to pull it out on a cold night or help us when we are needing a quick meal.

  1. Make bone broth using the above method.
  2. Add sliced carrots, celery, onion, and potatoes
  3. Add seasonings – salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You may try adding thyme, parsley, rosemary, sage, bay leaf
  4. Let simmer all day until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Add previously cooked turkey
  6. Enjoy

Feel free to make this your own, and here are some additional tips or ideas

  • strain the fat
  • use filtered water
  • add some herbs
  • add other flavor like garlic, peppercorns
  • add apple cider vinegar or lemon juice for flavor
  • celery ribs, or other vegetables.

Store the leftovers in the fridge, and we like to put it in small containers for freezing. You’ll benefit from the collagen that is pulled from the turkey bones. This is great for nails,
