We have a family fun night every weekend and my kids loved making these pumpkins as well.

You’ll need a bud vase for both projects. I got mine from the Dollar Tree.

For the pumpkin we painted the outside with orange folk art acrylic paint for the body – be sure to be light on the coat of pain so light will shine through. For the stem we used brown folk art acrylic paint. We used a sponge brush but you can use any kind of brush really. Once that dries, draw on a face of your choice with a sharpie. Let that dry and then spray with acrylic paint sealer. We put a flicker candle in ours ($1 for a set of 2 at the dollar tree)

This is the acrylic sealer we used.

For the ghost, spray with rust-oleum frosted glass paint. After it dries, use a sharpie to color in your eyes. For the light on this one we used a plug in light bulb from the Dollar Tree.

  1. What fun you must have with your kids. You are making memories that will last their whole life. Still love the little ghost – even with a different base. He/she is so cute. If I end up making one I think I’ll put a ribbon in her hair. LOL
