I painted Mod Podge onto a dollar store ornament and then …

I sprinkled it with fake snow.

Let it dry and you have a beautiful snowball.

I also sprinkled another Mod Podge coated ornament into bead confetti and it dry.

I cut up some tissue paper and placed it onto the Mod Podge coated bulb. Then I added another coat of Mod Podge on top to seal it.

I used my hot glue gun to add sequin to a bulb.

You could use other glue as well.

Using that same technique, I hot glued pearl beads onto another bulb.

I cut up a dollar store hat, and hot glued the pieces onto a bulb. Love how cozy it looks.

I added self adhesive rhinestones to a bulb.

Love how this one sparkles!

I drew a snowman face on one of the bulbs.

Even kids can get in on the fun for most of these ornaments, and build memories at the same time.

Chas, what a bounty of fun and inexpensive ornament ideas. My favs are the snow ball and the knit fabric decorated balls — cutting up the DT hat was oh so clever!

Dropping by from Traffic Jam Weekend Linky Party #214…
Thank you so much and please share your creations with me, I’d love to see them.
I love these ideas because they look so kid-friendly! Pinning for later, wish I had more time to create crafts for the holidays but got too busy to finish the ones I already had lined up. At least we got to do one as a family.
Thank you Alice, and thanks for the Pin. I keep a list of things I want to do for the upcoming years as well 🙂
Great ideas, Chas! I had bought some larger bulbs last year from Pier One for 10 cents each, thinking I would decoupage them like Easter eggs— but they look terrible! I tried a couple of times– ugh—how do people make those beautiful eggs?? Well, maybe I can use some of your ideas on them now. : )

Thank you so much Liberty and I totally know what you mean. Sometimes the ideas just don’t work like they should and it’s so very frustrating. Great idea to upcycle those .10 ornaments for another holiday 🙂
This would have been a great DIY family activity when my sons were young. Thanks for always sharing your creativity at Traffic Jam Weekend Linky Party.
Thanks Antionette, and I think these could be fun to make as a family activity when everyone gets together for the holidays too.

I love a good upcycle, and this inspo is fantastic! The sweater ones were my favorite! So glad I stopped by from “Party in Your PJs #289”! xo, Kristi
Thank you so much Kristi for your kind words and stopping by. Happy Holidays
What a wonderful assortment of ornaments. Such cute ideas!
Thank you so much Amy, I appreciate it. Happy Holidays
Such great ideas! These would be fun to do with my grandkids who are into doing crafts lately. We used bead confetti to cover empty yogurt cups, added a “ringer” and made them into bells to hang on the tree this year. Using the bead confetti with plain ornaments would make a nice compliment to what they already did. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Linda and love that you are making things and creating memories that your grandchildren will cherish. Nothing better than quality time.
So pretty! A fantastic way to upgrade some ho hum dollar store ornaments. And so easy! Back when I was a kid living at home, after dinner we would clear the dining room table and then make ornaments with my mom. We made hundreds every year that she gave away as gifts or donated to convalescent and nursing homes. Somewhere I still have a box of them. Next year I will unearth them and put them up. Thanks for such an easy craft.
Thank you Naomie and thank you so much for sharing that absolutely lovely memory! How fun and love the donating… might need to start doing that too.
my late aunt taught me how to make the sequin one its been so long since i started again now my friend Chas is reteaching me
Thank you so much Faith. Did you ever pin sequins into soap too? I remember doing that as a craft a long time ago.
