Welcome to Chas’ Crazy Creations. Head over to Dollar Tree, grab a few supplies for these awesome DIYs, let’s get started.
Project 1: Giant Christmas Bulbs
For this first project, I grabbed a bunch of plastic bowls from Dollar Tree. I spray painted two of them white and green and red. I spray painted some little plastic cups silver. I’m using Folk Art Treasure Gold, and I dipped my finger into the paint and then rubbed it all over each of the plastic bowls. This gave it texture and dimension. Here’s a look at those bowls, and I let them dry completely.
I drilled a hole into the bottom of each of the bowls. I had painted three of those plastic cups and I drilled a hole in the bottom of each of those as well. I used some Fix All Super Glue, spread it around the top of the bowl, and then attached two of the same color bowls together.
I took some twine and made a little knot in it and pushed it through the hole. I slid the little plastic cup on top and then I hot glued it into place. Then I hot glued on some embellishments and hung these giant bulbs on a tree in my front yard.

Project 2: Hanger Star and Snowflake
For this project, I grabbed a bunch of Dollar Store hangers. I took two of the hangers and made them into a triangle or a letter shape and took some zip ties and attached them together. I made five sets of these. I placed all of the hanger sets in a star shape and then I zip-tied the whole thing together.
Now you can stop here with the star shape, but I wrapped the entire thing in lights. Now you have a lovely lit-up star that can light during the day or glow at night. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Here’s another quick hanger DIY. Grab some hangers – you’re going to need eight of them. You’re going to place them in this shape, in sets of two. You can either hot glue them into place or use zip ties to hold them together. Next, you’re going to place all of those sets of two together so that they all create a snowflake shape. Then you’re going to reinforce that with hot glue and/or zip ties. Add some embellishments and put it on display.

Project 3: Recipe Cutting Board Display
For this project, you’re going to need a Dollar Store cutting board and some magnetic hooks. I painted the cutting board with Folk Art Home Decor Wood Tint. I placed a dab of hot glue up towards the top and then I placed one of those magnetic clips onto the cutting board. I hot glued on a little floral piece and ribbon, and then I added a little photo.
Here it is all finished, and all you have to do is hang it up. I think this makes a fantastic gift idea. Another quick option: print out a family recipe and use the handwriting of that person if you can. Trim it up to size and then go ahead and give it a coat of acrylic sealer and let that dry.
Now you can use glue, Mod Podge, or glue dots. I used a little hot glue and I attached the recipe to the cutting board. I added a few embellishments. I hot glued on a little wooden sign, which you could paint beforehand if you’d like, and then I added some ribbon with some jingle bells. It’s a great way to showcase an heirloom recipe and it’s a great gift idea.

Project 4: Doily Snowflake
For this project, we’re going to be using a doily and you’re going to fold it in half, then in half, and then in half one more time for a total of three times. Since the bottom half is lacy, I’m going to be leaving that part alone, but you could cut this if you’d like. I’m going to be focusing on the solid plain upper half and I’m going to be cutting the shapes out of both sides and the top.
By using these doilies, there is a lot less cutting involved, and once again they’re pretty easy to cut. Now I’ll open this doily up to reveal this snowflake that’s once again very unique in its own, and I love how the lace just helps give it more of that snowflake look.
What I did with this is I glued a bunch of these together to create a table runner for my home.
Project 5: Lunch Bag Snowflake
For this giant snowflake, you’re going to need eight lunch bags and they can be brown or white. Starting with the side that doesn’t have the fold, I’m going to take my hot glue and I’m going to make a squiggly line down the center and then I’m going to make a line across the bottom.
Next, I’m going to take another bag and place it on top the same direction so the folded side is on the bottom, and I’m going to press that until that’s firm. Then I’m going to repeat this process down the center and across the bottom and place another bag on top. I’ll continue to do that for a total of eight bags.
Once all eight bags are ready, you should be able to open it kind of like a fan or an accordion like this, but we’re going to close it back up. Now it’s time to use the scissors. You could leave the top plain or you can do like I am and cut a curve off the top.
Now you’re going to cut the sides and you’re going to cut above kind of the fold spot down below because we’re going to need some glue to keep the center solid. But whatever you do on one side, you’re going to want to match that on the other side to give it an equal look from both sides.
I’m going to cut a triangle and then a curve on one side and then I’m going to flip it over and do the exact same thing on the other side. Now it’s going to open in a circle, so think about a fan and how you made those when you were younger, and you’re going to pull it across until it reaches the other side like this.
Next, you’re going to open it back up a little bit because we need to glue it close. So you’re going to start by gluing the base and you’re going to glue the fold of the last bag so that the fold stays closed. Then you’re going to glue the entire bottom on both sides so it sticks together. Then you’ll work your way up towards the top until the entire thing is glued together.
Here’s the completed DIY giant snowflake.

Project 6: Fleece Scarf LED Candle Wrap
For this project, I grabbed a fleece scarf at the dollar store and cut it into three strips. Then I took the end and cut that into little fringe. I laid the piece of fleece flat and then placed one of the LED candles in the center of it, wrapped it around and tied it. Here you can see my cozy winter candles in the day and at night.

Project 7: Toilet Paper Roll Snowman
For this project, you’re going to need two toilet paper rolls, some white fabric, a hat, and a scarf. Start by spreading out the fake snow fabric and then fold it in half and then cut it down the center so that you have two pieces.
Lay out one of the pieces of fabric and place a toilet paper roll in the center. Grab the fabric and pull up around the edges and stuff into the center until the entire toilet paper roll is covered with the fabric. You’ll do the same process with both rolls.
Once the two rolls are made, stack them together. Grab a scarf, fold it up, and wrap it around the center of both the toilet paper rolls. Tie it and wrap it. Now you have a scarf. Grab a stocking cap and place it on top of the toilet paper roll. Grab a rubber band and close off the top to make a little ball on the top of the hat.
Grab some buttons, add some hot glue to the back, and place it on the bottom of the toilet paper roll. You now have a super cute toilet paper snowman. Feel free to add embellishments if you wish. This is a great way to hide toilet paper rolls and it collapses flat for storage for next year.

Project 8: Cabinet Ribbon Decoration
For this project, I measured my cabinets from top to bottom and I noted how many cabinet doors I have. I grabbed some ribbon from Dollar Tree and then I used some painters tape to adhere it to the top of the cabinet, pulled it down, cut it, and then placed another piece on the bottom so that it wrapped around the front.
I repeated this process across all of my cabinet doors and then I hot glued some bows to the front of the ribbon. I repeated that process for all the cabinets. This was a super easy and inexpensive way to decorate my cabinets for the holiday season.

Project 9: Chip Can Solider
I started with my chip can and some Dollar Store peel-and-stick vinyl. I use the can and I marked where I wanted to cut the vinyl, then I cut that strip of vinyl, peeled off the back, and then I placed the vinyl onto the chip can at the top of the chip can.
Now I use the backing from the blue vinyl to measure and cut a strip of pink construction paper. I wrapped the pink construction paper around underneath the blue vinyl and hot glued it into place. For the bottom half of the can, I used red vinyl from Dollar Store. I started by measuring the can, marking it, and then cutting it to size, peeled the backing off, and then I wrapped it around the bottom of the chip can.
Here’s a quick look at the can, and now let’s move on to the next step. I have a paper towel tube and I’m going to go ahead and measure it and then cut it in half. I measured the vinyl with the paper towel tubes and then I cut it to size, peeled off the back, and wrapped it around each of the paper towel tubes. I repeated this step with some red vinyl as well. So I measured it out, marked it, and then cut it to size, and then I wrapped both of the paper towel tubes.
For the navy blue cardboard tubes, I hot glued them together and then I gave them a little squeeze so they’d be more of an oval shape. I placed the cardboard tubes on the bottom of the chip can and then I hot glued them heavily into place. The red tubes I place on either side of the red section of the chip can and then I hot glued them onto the chip can.
Next, it was time to add some embellishments. So I started with some peel-and-stick jewels from Dollar Tree and added those to the red section. I also added some to the arms as well as the bottom of the chip can, the top of the chip can, and added a snowflake to the center of the blue section on top.
Now it’s time to add a face, so I glued on some google eyes. I cut out some eyebrows and a mustache and glued those on, and then I drew a nose. For hair, I cut a strip of white paper and then I made little slits in it. I cut it so it could wrap around side to side and then I glued that into place. Here he is all finished, and I’m thrilled with how he turned out.
