Keep it Simple with the Colors
When it comes to choosing the color scheme for the front garden, the trick is to keep it as simple as it can be. You don’t want to overdo things and overwhelm the garden because that’s when things can start to look a little messy. Choose flowers that stick to a limited number of colors and don’t fight with one another for attention. If you get that right, you’ll be on the right path.
Add Lawn Decorations
It’s easy, inexpensive, and fun to add decorations to your yard. You can make dish flowers, upcycle items into planters, make solar light creations, and more. The best part is many of these things are low maintenance. You can check out all my DIY lawn decorations here.
Plant Climbers
Climbers can look really beautiful and really impressive once they’ve grown. If you want to make the exterior of your home look better, it might be a good idea to plant climbers. Ivy is a really good option but there are many different options out there for you to explore. Make sure you do that and find the one that’s right for your yard.
Replace the Lawn
One simple and straightforward way of brightening up the yard is to do something new with the lawn. If it’s seen better days and is starting to look very dull and worn, it might be a good idea to replace it. Look into the cost of zoysia sod and other options and decide which would be best for your yard before making a decision.
Add Pots Around the Front Door
Doing something new with the area around the front door might be a good idea. One way in which you can brighten up this space is by adding some flower pots to this space. Either side of the front door you could add some bright pots containing some even brighter flowers. It’s a simple trick but it’s one that works wonders for your front lawn.
Your yard should be looked upon as the introduction to your home. And as such, you need to put time and effort into making it as perfect as it can be. The tips and ideas above will make that possible, so make the most of them. Each offers something important and significant to your lawn.

Thinking of you with the awful, historic fires in Colorado. Hope all is well.
You are so sweet Debbee, thank you. We are safe, together, and at our home in Fort Collins which is what is most important. Our small condo in Grand Lake is also safe right now and we are grateful and our heart goes out to all those who tragically lost their homes.
I was such a gardener when my kids were little, then we moved to a home with no real space other than pots to garden in. After that we were dividing our time between two condominiums, again, no place to garden. Now that we have a nice yard in Florida, I can’t wait to get back to having the plants I want. I recently planted a hydrangea that was a gift and it is doing great. My dream is to have a full hedge full of hydrangeas…we will see!
Thank you so much for sharing Chloe. I totally understand, life can be busy and we have to focus on what we “need” to do sometimes. I’m excited for you to have the time and space to get back into something you love 🙂 Can’t wait to see it someday!
