What oil is best for Epsom salt scrub?

The best oil for an Epsom salt scrub is avocado oil, but you can use other oils such as coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or olive oil based on your personal preference. The oil serves as the moisturizing ingredient in the scrub. Other alternatives for this DIY body scrub include:

  • virgin coconut oil
  • sweet almond oil
  • canola oil
  • olive oil
  • vegetable oil
  • jojoba oil
  • shea butter
  • argan oil
  • grapeseed oil

I added a one-quarter cup of avocado oil to the mixing bowl, and you could add whatever kind of oil you would prefer.

You can use any other type of oil you like. If you would like to use coconut oil to make a coconut sugar scrub. You’ll need to warm it up so it liquefies first before adding it to the sugar so that it mixes easier.

The oil is the moisturizing ingredient.

3. Mix the ingredients together

I mixed the Epsom salt and oil together in my bowl with a spoon. You can easily adjust the texture if you like by adding more salt or more oil.  It will have a coarse texture which is what you want as that will exfoliate the skin. If you have sensitive skin you can stop here.

Add drops of favorite essential oils to add a scent. The addition of lavender essential oil can make a lavender sugar scrub, lemon juice or lemon essential oils make a lemon sugar scrub, vanilla extract, pure citrus juice, or another natural extract to the mix to give it a scent or fragrance.

You can also use herbs like rosemary, peppermint, lavender, etc inside your scrub.

You can add vitamin E oil if you like as well. I like to leave mine natural (or use organic essential oils) but you could add food color if you like to your homemade scrubs. It’s really all about personal preference.

4. place in a container

I placed my Epsom salt scrub in a glass jar. You can place the mixture in a small mason jar, cute jar, or put it in an airtight container. You can find these at the store, you might have some at home, and they are a great deal at thrift stores. You can also get containers online on Amazon, at the dollar store, at Walmart, online store, and other stores. You can store this at room temperature which is great and helps with it being easily accessible. This makes a fantastic gift any time of year and for any occasion.

Use it to get rid of dead skin cells. A good body scrub recipe can be used in so many ways and is great for all skin types.

  • use it as a foot scrub
  • place this to be used in your shower as an Epsom salt body scrub
  • bath for sore muscles
  • by the sink for a hand scrub.

DIRECTIONS TO USE THE Epsom Salt SCRUB:

  1. Wash hands with soap then rinse.
  2. Put a small amount of the Epsom salt scrub in your hands or on your body
  3. Rub around your skin in circular motions to exfoliate and moisturize your skin
  4. Rinse off with warm water.
  5. Pat dry on a towel.
