Re-purposed Wine Rack to Solar Yard Decor

I had a wine rack I bought from a yard sale for a project that didn’t work out. I decided to make it a solar yard decoration instead.

I put the wine rack in a space that needed a little something.

I added different colored bottles I had from the Dollar Tree.

I added 3 solar lights from the Dollar Tree between the bottles. The lights on the right and left are stuck into the ground. The one in the middle I wanted a little higher so I removed the stake and put it in a clear mini bottle.  After looking at this for a period of time I ended up adding crystal beads to the front to look like it was pouring.

We just had a family reunion and one night we had a BBQ in the backyard. Everyone wanted to stay until all of my solar decorations turned on. My Aunt said it inspired her and she was going to go home and get creative too. Hope it inspires you as well.

  1. On the wine rack solar light in back yard: You said you put crystal beads to look like it was pouring. The picture was too dark for me to see the beads. Anyway to make it a little lighter?
I have a wine rack and when I drink all the wine will be making this solar light for yard.
    Terrific idea.

    1. Hi Marie, I had added the crystals after the fact so they are not pictured and that’s why you cannot see them. If you go to this video – https://youtu.be/ruOZC7ek3PI – you can see the version with the crystals. It’ll be about 16 minutes in 🙂

  2. That looks beautiful! I need to make a garage sale list so that I can have what I need for some of your projects. 🙂

    1. Thanks Linda 🙂 I’m so excited for garage sale evening

  3. I just happen to have a similar wine rack, that I just knew would make and interesting something-or-other, and have saved colored wine bottles for the same reason. I’m big in solar lights, and the many things that can be done with them, so voila! Just joined up, and this will be my first project.

I have a brass chandelier hanging in a tree doing nothing. If the solar lights can get enough sunlight, that will work, otherwise, I’d have to take it down daily to let it sit in the sun.

    1. Welcome Diane, so happy to have you as part of the family 🙂 I’m so pleased you want to make the wine rack project and love that you have a solar chandelier too!
