Awesome and Easy Autumn DIY Gnome with Video
Do you love gnomes? I just love these little guys. Adorable DIY gnomes can be dressed up in different ways to make a farmhouse gnome, cute Christmas gnomes, garden gnomes, or even little gnomes to use as gnome ornaments. Homemade gnomes are a great way to decorate for any holiday season and the best part is you can make these inexpensive crafts using everyday items. I’m sharing how to make an awesome and easy autumn DIY gnome with craft supplies you can get at the craft store, thrift store, hobby lobby, and dollar tree!

What materials do you need to make a gnome?
- 1 pool noodle
- 1 toddler outfit
- 1 dollar store bear
- 1 felt square
- recycled jeans
- acorn
- rope & twine
- flowers
- straw
- hot glue and glue gun
- scissors
- serrated knife

How do you make a no sew gnome?
1. cut the pool noodle
I measured the pool noodle against the toddler outfit that I got from Good Will. I cut the pool noodle so that it would create the form of the gnome inside the clothing.
2. Make the diy gnome body
I placed the pool noodles into the legs of the onesie.
I put the pants on the pool noodles to form the legs. I stuffed the form with old plastic grocery bags. You could use fiberfill or old stuffing from pillows for the filler as well.
I cut a rope to go around the gnome’s waist then threaded it through the belt loops and tied it in the front. Here you could also use a piece of twine.
3. make the gnome’s hat
I looped the felt in a tall circle and ran a bead of hot glue to hold it together. This will become the top of the hat.
I made 2 circles on some old jeans and cut them out. This will become the rim of the hat.
I used a line of hot glue to attach the felt to the jean brim.
I added some straw from my straw bale garden to the top of his hat and then tied it in place with some twine. You could use raffia, a zip tie, a rubber band or just tie the top closed if you like.
4. Make the gnome’s beard
I cut the arms and the back off a dollar store bear to create the gnome beard. You could also use faux fur or craft fur.
5. Assemble the head
I hot glued the beard on the front of the toddler outfit, and I hot glued the hat onto the collar of the onesie.
6. add embellishments to the gnome
Now you can have some fun with embellishments. There are endless great ideas to customize your cute gnomes. I hot glued an acorn onto the top of the beard to become the gnome nose. You could use a wood bead or a small wood ball for this step if you like. I also pulled apart some flowers and hot glued them to the gnome’s hat. I closed the small opening at the sleeves with some hay and hot glue.
I placed my fall gnome on my front porch to greet my guests as they come to our home.
