For all of these projects, you can use a Dollar Tree glass jar, or you can use Mason or Kerr jars, or even recycled jars. You can use small, medium, and large jars for gifts. You can even find some of these glass jars at thrift stores.
I like using glass jars as they are eco-friendly. Use them afterward to do some of the following ideas:
- store leftovers
- organization
- seasonings
- crafting
- take to the grocery store and use for items instead of plastic
Let’s get started with our dollar store glass jar gift ideas
1. Bath Salts in a jar
I filled a jar with Epsom salts.

I added a few drops of lavender essential oil to the salt. If you have someone who is sensitive to scents, you can easily omit this step. The more drops, the stronger the scent will be, fewer drops mean a weaker scent.
Place the lid on and give the jar a roll to mix the essential oils. Keep the jar sealed to help the scent penetrate all of the Epsom salts.
2. Body and Hand scrub
Place 1 cup sugar scrub in a bowl.
Add 1/4 cup any oil you like, I’m using Avocado oil.
You can stop here if you want or add some natural scents. I’m using 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring. You could also use lemon or lime juice as another option.
Place your body scrub in a glass jar. The sugar helps exfoliate and the oil moisturizes your skin.
3. Hair accessory jar
Fill the jar with headbands, ponytail binders, scrunchies, hair clips in a variety of sizes, barrettes, bobby pins, and hair clips.
You can even place a barrette or other hair accessory on top to decorate it like it’s a bow.
4. Grooming Kit
These can work great for a boy or girl gift. Start by adding grooming tools like finger and toe nail clipers, nail file, tweezers, cuticle trimmer as your base. For girls add nail polish and a pair of fuzzy socks, and for a boy add nail brush and some fun socks.
5. Travel kit
I started with 3 small containers and filled them with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. This way I could use a larger container and fill up more to make several travel gifts and saving in cost.
I filled it with other items like toothpaste, flossers, hand sanitizer, and whatever I could squeeze inside the jar.
I added a little bath poof to the top which also looked a little like a bow.
These also work great for kids and teens for sleepovers, and adults or families who travel.

I love the Dollar Tree. I believe it is my 2nd home, ha. I have 2 in my area. They have great items. I have used their vinyl paper on a chest of drawers. I use mod podge and I remove the drawers when the weather is warmer to finish. I did find a great place mat. I cut it down to size and frame it. I love creativity.
Have a great day.
Thank you so much for sharing.
