Let’s get started on creating your zen living room on a budget

1. The  Layout

Before you start deciding to throw out the old furniture or to buy new ones, look at the layout of your living room. Sometimes, all you need to do to infuse a spark of life into the decor is change the way the furniture is arranged.

Remember that a living room should always have a center of interest. This means that you should ensure that your furnishings have a focal point this could be a fireplace or even the television. Whatever it is, having a central point of interest will help you to arrange the furniture to make it comfortable.

2. Paint the Room

Sometimes all a room needs to bring it to life is a fresh coat of paint. Painting your living room is one of the most budget-friendly things that you can do to improve it.

If you are currently using neutral colors maybe you want to brighten things up a bit by using more energetic colors. Take a look at the furnishings and even paintings that you have in the room already, try to use colors on your walls that can complement your furniture and artwork.

You can even add an accent wall to your living room to make it stand out. For example, you can add an accent wall to the wall where the TV is hung or on the wall where the fireplace is located.

3. Update Your Windows

Another thing you can do to add a fresh look to the room is to update your windows. Maybe it’s time to remove those old-style windows that do not bring enough light into the room.

You may even want to consider adding stained glass to some of the window panes. You can visit a stained glass store to buy supplies. Stained glass can add a unique look to your windows and bring a classic feel to the windows in your home.

4. Reupholster Furniture

Reupholstering furniture is an easy way for you to make your old furniture look brand new. If you have decided that you want to paint your room a different color then matching the colors of your furniture to your walls in a complementary way is one of the easiest ways to make the room pop.

If you don’t want to reupholster existing furniture you can consider buying second-hand furniture and then reupholstering that. In this way, you will have a different design and style of furniture while saving money at the same time.
