Pottery Barn Ghost Dupe (for just a few dollars!)

Pottery Barn sells a ghost pillow for $85… but I knew I could make my own version for just a few bucks using Dollar Tree supplies.

Supplies:

  • Microfiber cloth
  • Sweater pumpkin
  • Styrofoam ball + cone
  • Black fabric (or felt) for the eyes
  • Hot glue

Steps:

  1. Glue the styrofoam ball to the cone.
  2. Drape the microfiber cloth over the form.
  3. Hot glue the sweater pumpkin in the center to create weight.
  4. Fold and glue fabric corners for “arms.”
  5. Cut and glue two black circles for eyes.
✨ And just like that, you’ve got a Pottery Barn-inspired ghost that looks high-end without the price tag.

DIY Magic Broom (Dollar Tree Plunger + Hula Skirt)

This project is equal parts clever and hilarious — I turned a plunger and a hula skirt into a witch’s broom and attached it to my robot vacuum so it “flies” around the house while cleaning.

Supplies:

  • Dollar Tree plunger
  • Hula skirt
  • Rope or twine
  • Hot glue
  • Optional: FolkArt Wood Tint to stain the handle

Steps:

  1. Stain or paint the plunger handle.
  2. Fold the hula skirt, glue the ends, and wrap it around the plunger base.
  3. Secure with rope.
  4. Fluff and trim the “bristles.”
  5. Suction it to the top of your robot vacuum for a magic cleaning broom!

DIY Crystal Ball Halloween Decor

Crystal balls are a spooky Halloween classic, and you can make one that actually mists and glows!

Supplies:

  • Thrifted fishbowl
  • Candle holder base
  • Dollar Tree floating humidifier
  • Optional LED light/coaster

Steps:

  1. Spray paint your candle holder base black.
  2. Add a small dish of water + the floating humidifier.
  3. Place the fishbowl upside down on top.
  4. Turn it on and watch the mist fill the globe!

Skeleton in a Cauldron Candle

This spooky candle idea makes it look like a skeleton is bathing in a bubbling cauldron.

Haunted Houses from Thrift Store Finds

I found ceramic houses and castles at the thrift store and turned them into haunted houses.

Supplies:

  • Ceramic houses/castles
  • Black spray paint
  • Optional LED light or coaster for glow

Steps:

  1. Spray paint the houses black.
  2. Add optional lighting to the inside or underneath.
  3. Display as a spooky haunted village!

Murano Glass-Style Pumpkin

I love the look of Murano glass pumpkins, but they can be pricey. Here’s a thrifty way to make your own.

candle holder

Supplies:

  • Glass candle holder (thrift store)
  • Plaid Murano glass paint (orange)
  • Copper solar light

Steps:

  1. Pour paint inside the glass holder and rotate until coated.
  2. Let dry completely.
  3. Insert solar light on top for a glowing pumpkin effect.

This works indoors or outdoors and looks beautiful both day and night.

Frankenstein Solar Light

This little project turns a Dollar Tree Frankenstein candle holder into a glowing yard or porch accent.
