Christmas is coming. It may only seem like a few weeks ago since the tree came down and the decorations got packed away and it is nearly time to put them back up. We spend so much of our time thinking about Christmas and planning it. There is always so much to do. From buying in all of the lovely Christmas food, through to choosing the best gifts for those that we are closest to.
But with all of the best will in the world, do you find that you end up running around panic buying gifts at the last minute? Do you spend a lot of time worrying about what to buy the people in your life? In the end, you may have left it so late, or have got so panicked that you end up buying anything that you see.
This is not the way that gift-giving should be though. Giving gifts should be about showing the people that we care about how much we appreciate them. Buying from the Black Friday sales doesn’t really do this.

Consumerism does take the magic out of Christmas gift-giving. It removes that personal touch from the gifts that you choose to buy. You should aim to make the gifting experience more special
Here’s how you can give the perfect Christmas gift.
Give An Experience
What could be more memorable than an experience that someone will never forget? If your partner, friend, or a family member has a dream to do something that they have yet to fulfil, help them to realize that dream.
There are lots of different companies out there that will arrange these ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences, and this will make it easier for you to organize giving the gift. Or you can make your own like this basket I made for a college care package (easily adapted to a gift to give anytime).
Give Something That Can Be Treasured
Instead of buying something that will end up in a cupboard and forgotten about, or something that will become obsolete or break in a few years time, why not buy something that could become an air loom eventually? For example, a well-made watch by A Lange Sohne would make a beautiful gift or you can make an easy reader’s gift basket for that person you know who loves books.
Buy From Independent Retailers And Crafts People
Why not take the time to find something a little bit different? Buying from an independent seller or even directly from a craftsperson that hand makes gifts will mean that you will be able to get something completely unique.
When buying from an independent retailer, try and find gifts that you won’t be able to get anywhere else.

Give The Gift Of Your Time
Instead of giving a conventional gift, why not offer up your time to do something nice for that special someone in your life? You could throw a party for them, or decorate their house for them. If you are good at fixing things, you could do some jobs around the house for them that need doing.
