Make Your House A Home

Curb Appeal

Does the outside of your home look tired and untidy? If you are super organized and love clean lines, you want the exterior of your home to emulate this. Whip out the white render paint and cover up the scuffs and peeling sections. Wipe down the fascias of your windows and keep your gutters clean by getting rid of the leaves and mulch. But if you want to go one step further, swapping out old windows for new ones won’t just make the property look cleaner, but they will provide an extra layer of insulation, keeping the heat in and protecting your home from the elements further. Companies like Kelly Window & Door can work with you to increase your curb appeal by replacing windows and doors. But this is only if you have the budget to work with. Cleaning and a little makeover can always make a difference. By doing these general cleaning tasks, your home will look naturally more appealing to the eye.

If you are blessed with a front yard area or driveway, think about swapping the gravel for brick or a concrete composite. These driveways are easier to maintain and look sophisticated. For your yard, start weeding and ensure that your flowers are pruned and your lawn is mowed regularly. This will allow your home to turn heads for all the right reasons.

Go Cozy

In the winter months, you want your home to feel cozy and comfortable. There’s nothing better than curling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate in front of a roaring fire on those chilly winter evenings. Ensure that you purchase a new sofa that allows you to feel like you could sink into it. Sculptural furniture can look impressive but it doesn’t tend to be fit for purpose. Instead, go for the luxurious corner sofa or the comfy vintage leather settee.

If you are into bold colors, don’t put them on your walls, and instead add the shocking hues in your throws, cushions, and drapery. By adding a range of textures and materials into your room, you can create that Danish sense of hygge – ultimate coziness. To add a focal point, you can consider a feature wall with bolder colors and tones. Go for a pattern or a vintage design to make your living space unique.

Do you hate harsh cleaning chemicals? Maybe it's after the holidays, the guests are gone, and your kitchen needs a little love? In this tutorial I will show you how to clean your kitchen with natural products.

Your Personality

Your home should be an extension of your personality. By ensuring that it represents you, you will enjoy living in your pad more. If you are into period features and can’t get enough of heritage programs, lift up your carpet and see if you have some original oak floorboards. If you want to bring some period features back into your home, think about adding a Belfast sink into your kitchen, install some industrial old school radiators across your home, and head to a reclamation yard to source authentic doors.

Your home should be the most comfortable place where you rest your weary bones, enjoy gatherings with friends, and relax. Follow this guide and your home can represent you.
