6 Easy Ways To Hang Holiday Lights
Do you want easy ways hang holiday lights? I am all about making things simpler if I can during the holidays. Hanging lights can be a task and I have found a few ways that have helped me to make it easier.
How do you hang lights on the mantle?
Add a Command Hook to either side of your mantel on top.
Hook your lights into place.
This will help hold your lights into place so they don’t fall off and take all your decorations with them.
How do you put Christmas lights on a railing?
Use green hook and loop fastener (Velcro) to attach your garland and lights to your railings.
It makes hanging your garland and lights fast and easy.
How do you hang lights on a patio railing? How do you hang lighted garland around a door?
Screw in hooks above your door, and to the exterior of your home.
Don’t want to screw hooks into your home? No problem, Command Hooks work great here too.
Hang your garland and lights onto the hooks.
How do you hang lights on brick?
Hot glue your lights to your bricks on your home.
When the holiday season is done, simply peel them off.
How do you hang string lights on a fence?
Use clothes pins to attach the lights to your fence.
You can also loop the lights around the fence posts.
Alternative… Command Hooks are another option to add hooks to your fence with ease.
How do you protect outdoor plugs from rain and snow?
Protect your cords by cutting holes in plastic containers.
Slide your cords inside, connect, and put the lid on.

I’m not really sure how the command hook works, but your mantle looks a lot like mine. I must have done some serious cleaning last year because all my special mantle lights are missing. But I did get the tree up and the lights wrapped around the railing.
The green velcro is so simple yet so brilliant. Unfortunately I threw away my garland lights too. Here I come Amazon.
Thanks and thanks for sharing Jeanna

Great tips, Chas! I need the velcro for my stairs….Thank you for sharing at Party In Your PJ’s.
Thank you Ann, that velcro one has been a game changer for me. Makes it so much easier and faster. No more winding the lights around the railing.
Such good ideas, I especially like the hook and loop fastening idea for the staircase, I usually use sewing thread doubled up but it is SO fiddly!
Thanks Julie and I totally feel your pain. I used to wrap the lights around to hold it in place. This has been a huge time saver.
