This is our laundry area and I’m fortunate enough to have some cabinets but what if you’re short on storage space in your laundry room? I’m going to show you some laundry room hacks and storage solutions. Let’s get started.
Small Laundry Room Hacks instructions
Storage and Shelving Laundry room hack
1. Decide where you want your Shelves
The first step is deciding how many baskets you’re going to need and in which direction you want to hang them. Do you want to go vertical or horizontal? All the baskets are shaped a little differently so you have to decide how you want to configure them. I’m going with three of them.
2. Measure and Mark where you want your shelves to be
I’m grabbing my ruler and set it on the wall to mark out approximately where I want all of the baskets to go. I want to make sure that I level this off before moving forward. You’ll need to decide how you want to adhere them to your wall.
3. Screw your baskets into the wall
I’m going to be using some screws and my Ryobi screwdriver to screw in holes in the top two corners of each of the baskets. I will do that to all three baskets.
4. Stock your laundry room shelving
Here they are all up on my wall and now it’s time to load them up. These are great for small spaces to clear the clutter off your countertop. You can use these to store laundry products like fabric softener, dryer sheets, or laundry detergent. You could also use them to store cleaning supplies. There are so many possibilities of what you can put in these floating shelves. You can even add a little divider so you can make two shelves.
5. Bonus small laundry room hack, add a hanging cabinet rack on your shelf.
Now I’m going to add one more tip. I grabbed a hanging rod from the dollar store that’s adjustable and I’m hooking this onto the baskets.
You can hang just about anything you want on this rod or use it as a drying rack for small delicates. I’m going to hang a towel as well as my cleaning gloves. You could easily hang other things like paper towels or perhaps your cleaning rags. Maybe you have some lost socks. Any of these are possibilities.

1. Place an adhesive hook of your choice on the wall.
Now let’s move on to another hack. I’m going to be using these little hooks that are removable. First I’m going to decide which direction I want to hang them. Next, I’m going to grab that ruler again and mark my wall and make sure they are even and level. I peeled the back off and I’m pressing firmly to get the hook to adhere to the wall. I’m going to let it sit according to the directions. I’m going to repeat this process with the second hook.
2. Hang Baskets on the hooks
These hooks are great for so many things as is but I’m going to take two of these Dollar Store bins and hang one bucket on each of the hangers.
3. Divide your light and dark clothes in these baskets
I’m going to use them as laundry tubs to divide my whites and darks. You can add more baskets if you like and separate additional items like hand wash items.
Ironing Board Small Laundry Room Storage Hack
1. Hang and over the door hanging rack on a door
Now I’m taking this over-the-door hanging rack and I’m hanging it on my door. These over-the-door hanging racks are great for so many things in a small laundry room to free up floor space. You could hang your broom or mop but I’m going to be using it for my ironing board. You could hang it in either direction, with the soft side towards the door or the padding facing out to add to the decor.
2. Hang your iron on the hanging rack
I’m going to hang my iron here as well. Now I’ve got both of those items out of the way and in the same area.
