Option 2 - I added faux flowers in the pumpkin for a beautiful fall display.

Do you like decorating for Fall and Halloween? Do you like creating easy fall and Halloween decorations? I took a column and pumpkin and made easy Halloween pumpkin outdoor decorations.

Here's an old column a friend gave me. The first thing I did was power wash it to clean it and remove all of the chipping paint.

It was deteriorating so I knew it would be perfect for fall and Halloween.

I painted the column with Rustoleum black spray paint.

I found this super cute ceramic pumpkin planter at Walmart. It came in white and orange.

I filled the pumpkin planter with water.

Option 1 (and my fail)

I filled the pumpkin planter with water.

I added a solar fountain to the pumpkin. I thought it would be fun to have the spraying water as a stem.

My fail – unfortunately it was not sealed properly so water was running out of the plug in the bottom. I would need to empty this out and seal it with silicone and try again.

Solar Fountain – these solar fountains only tend to run when there is full sun on them. They run a little bit if there is a little cloud cover, but not fully. They don’t run at night. I do like the solar fountains but you need to make sure you’re putting them where you’ll get enough sun.

You could easily plant a live mum plant in the pumpkin as well.

Another option which I love is to rotate the pumpkin face to the back and you can have it on display the rest of your fall season.

In fact the I think you could put different plants and fake flowers in the pumpkin the rest of the year with the reverse side of the pumpkin.
