10 Awesome and Easy Vinegar Cleaning Hacks
Do you want vinegar cleaning hacks? I have worked towards using natural products and eliminating harmful chemicals in my home. Vinegar can be a great, biodegradable, and green alternative and an easy way to eliminate expensive cleaners. The acidity in the vinegar is what is doing the work while you are cleaning and cuts through grease, soap scum, mineral deposits, hard water stains, etc.

Let’s get started on our 10 vinegar cleaning hacks
1. Multipurpose Cleaner
Mix together a ratio of 1:1 equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle. You can use straight vinegar and skip the water for a stronger cleaner. If you do not like the vinegar smell you can soak citrus peels in the vinegar for a few weeks, strain it out, and the vinegar will have absorbed the citrus scent. You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
Use the multipurpose cleaner to clean your counters (not safe on granite or marble counters), tile and grout backsplashes, showers, bathtubs, & sinks. It will clean these surfaces with little effort.
Use it to clean the shelves in your refrigerator and freezer.
2. Clean Your Microwave
Pour 1 cup of water and 1 cup of white vinegar into a microwave-safe bowl. Add 2 TBSP of lemon juice. The acidity again is the cleaning agent in this mixture. Place the bowl inside the microwave and cook for approximately 7-10 minutes (depending on strength of the microwave).
3. Clean Your Dishwasher
Place a cup full of vinegar in a cup on the top rack of your dishwasher and run the dishwasher. It’ll clean the soap scum and other junk right out.
4. Spray Your Fruits & Vegetables
Spray your fruits and vegetables to clean them, and give them a good rinse with water before eating.
5. Clean Your Garbage Disposal
Freeze vinegar in ice cube trays. Place the ice cubes in your garbage disposal, run the water, and your disposal.
6. Odor Remover
Vinegar is a great deodorizer. Spray a solution of vinegar on smelly shoes, or bags, or as an air freshener to remove bad odors.
7. Clean Your Shower Curtain
Place your shower curtain in your washing machine, and add 1 cup of vinegar. Set your washer to a large load, warm, and hand wash cycle. The vinegar will remove any soap scum and mold build-up.
8. Clean your Tile Floors
Mix a ratio of 1 part vinegar to 10 parts plain water. Use a deck brush to lightly scrub the mixture onto the floor.
After scrubbing, mop with warm clean water and rinse.
9. Soften Your Towels
Wash your towels with 1 cup of vinegar. It works as a fabric softener to soften your towels and is a great way to remove detergent residue.
10. Re-usable vinegar wipes & dryer sheets
Place a clean cloth in a container and pour vinegar over the cloths – you can dilute with equal parts water just as you made the multipurpose cleaner from above if you like. Use the vinegar-soaked rag to wipe surfaces than just launder, and use again. You can also throw these in the dryer to soften your clothes.
Other things you can clean with vinegar:
- toilet bowl
- clean windows
- some carpet stains
- coffee maker
