If you are working from home for the foreseeable future, you may have already found you have discovered all of your “struggles.” But in order to make sure you have a very effective office work environment you’ve got to start streamlining everything in the right possible way. A streamlined home office is not just about the physicalities, but it’s about your mindset, and a few other things thrown in for good measure. So let’s show you how exactly you can turn your home office into a streamlined environment that makes you productive, proficient, and (close to) perfect.

Creating a Fantastic Home Office Work Environment
1. Ensure Your Equipment Is up to Code
This is something that we can all gravely underestimate. If there are problems with your internet connection or with your updates, it’s going to slow you down. You can find out more on certain macOS updates just to make sure you are ahead of the game, but also realize that because of the nature of what the modern work environment is, ensuring that all our equipment is up to code is not just something that we should do before we start work, but we need to continually check these things.
2. Working Smart, Not Working Hard
A streamlined home office is about finding the parts of your workday where you struggle most. This could be to do with the midday slump, but it could also be to do with areas where you are particularly slow. For example, if you aren’t the best typer, this could be a part of your workload that you could make easier by dictating. If you start to dictate words using one of the many voice recognition programs, you might realize just how much you can get done. While it might not be compatible with your work system, when it comes to emails, you can start to dictate. You should also think about aspects of the work that can go onto different devices so you can work while you are on the go. This makes life a lot easier if you have to go and pick up your children from school.
3. Making Your Work Environment More Inspiring
In order to make sure that your home environment is inspiring, you have to make your work environment anathema to everything else in your home. A home office needs to give us some motivation, but it cannot be a dull environment either. Instead, think about incorporating certain colors that stimulate you, especially if the job you do is not particularly interesting. Incorporate different colors, but stimulating your senses will help to get you into the right frame of mind to work. If you are someone who struggles to get motivated, you may benefit from painting your home office walls a more vibrant color, as this will help to stimulate the senses. You should also think about energizing scents such as lemon, peppermint, or rosemary, and buying candles with those stimulating scents.
This is not just about design, but it’s about making sure that everything works together in harmony.
