All Occasion Card Box Upcycle
I found this wooden comment box at the local Goodwill for $4! I upcycled it just in time for my daughter’s graduation and I can use it for future graduations, weddings, birthdays, showers, and more!

Here is the original box that I found for $4 at the thrift store. I cleaned it all up to free it from oils, dust, and debris.

I painted the entire piece with Folk Art Home Decor Chalk Paint in Rich Black. I picked a dark color as I was worried in my past experience with lighter colors those old oil based stains can leak through. Picking a darker color would stop the bleed from showing. As an added bonus one of my daughter’s school colors is black. I let this dry completely.
I bought Plaid wooden letters and painted them with Apple Barrel Multi Surface Black paint for a base coat and let it dry.
I then painted the letters with Plaid Liquid Leaf in the color Brass and let that dry completely.
I glued the letters onto the box with E6000 glue and let it dry.
I finished the whole piece with Folk Art Home Decor Varnish to protect it. I let this dry completely and the box was ready to use.
I’m so excited to have this project to use for so many future occasions.
