Anthropologie Vase Hacks
I’m at it again! I have been checking out a couple vases at Anthropologie but the price range on them is $38-148 for the 2 I’m looking at! Holy cow! I knew I could DIY them and get similar vibes without the hefty price tag. So here are my Anthropologie dupes at a fraction of the price!

These are the vases I was looking at. The above bottle shaped vase sells for $38, and the below bottle shaped vase with the stripes sells for $148.
I started with some recycled bottles I had on hand. I placed them in some soapy water and let them soak for 10 minutes. If you don’t have any bottles on hand you can find them reasonably priced at Hobby Lobby, Walmart or World Market.
I then peeled off the label, and I was lucky as these both peeled right off with no residue left behind.
I then wiped both bottles down with an alcohol prep pad. This is to get all finger prints, oils, and anything else off the glass so it’s nice and clean.
I used Plaid’s Liquid Leaf in the color Florentine and painted the entire neck. I wasn’t worried about completely straight lines and the piece at the store was imperfect itself.
The bottle base had ornate detail with some flecks of gold color on it, so added imperfect little spots on the jar with the Liquid leaf.
Once that was dry, I decided the bottle needed a little texture still to look closer to the original. I pained Mod Podge in Gloss over the entire bottle base and let it dry completely.
While that was drying I started in on the second bottle. I painted the entire bottle with Apple Barrel Multi-surface Acrylic Paint in Primary Blue.
Once that was dry, I used Apple Barrel Multi-Surface Acrylic Paint in the color White to draw stripes around the bottle. The great thing was that the original was imperfect (thank you!) so I was able to draw these lines around until I got the look I wanted.
After both bottles were completely dry, I took them outside and gave them a coat of Patricia Nimock’s Acrylic Sealer in Gloss. I wanted it to have a nice shine when it was finished.
I let both vases dry completely before bringing them inside.
I love the way they turned out and for just a fraction of the cost.

Wow Great idea . I think I’ll try some of these if the humidity will ever drop. If you have a favorite “watering hole” ( aka restaurant with a bar) and you see an interesting bottle maybe they will give it to you when it’s empty. Make sure they rinse it out and put it into a bag. Some states have strange liquor laws. Also your local thrift stores may have unique bottles if you want another “twist “ to your project.

I love ideas like this, and I’m a bit like you in that I think I’d baulk at paying that kind of price for what is essentially a painted wine bottle!! You’ve done a lovely job and your vases look fabulous!!
Thank you so much and I’m glad you like the ideas too. They real vases are stunning, but if I can do it with recycled items that is better for me. I’d much rather spend my money on other things like doing things with my family.
