I chose Folk Art Color Shift Black Gold acrylic paint for this piece. Using a dry paint brush, I painted on the first coat of paint, let it dry, and then painted on a second coat. You don't always need a second coat, so start with the first, let it dry, and see if it needs a second coat.

Do you want some acrylic paint ideas? I found this mug rack at a thrift store and with a little paint, I updated it and turned it into an office organizer for my home.

Materials

  • Thrift Store item of your choice I’m using this mug rack
  • Krud Kutter
  • Acrylic Paint of your choice I’m using Folk Art Home Decor Color Shift Black Gold
  • Paint Brush

Instructions

  • Start by spraying Krud Kutter onto your piece, and then wiping it with a clean rag. This will remove oils, dirt, debris, sticky residue, etc.
  • I chose Folk Art Color Shift Black Gold acrylic paint for this piece. Using a dry paintbrush, I painted on the first coat of paint, let it dry, and then painted on a second coat.
  • Once I was done painting, I let it dry completely. Depending on what you’re using a piece for or where it will be located will determine if you need a varnish topcoat or not. This piece was going into my office, so I didn’t put a topcoat on.
