Dollar Tree Hacks, 8 Brilliant Baskets Ideas

Do you love Dollar Tree hacks? I was given the challenge of coming up with different ways to upcycle, repurpose, and use dollar store bins and baskets. I’ve taken a few and created some hacks to use in your home.

Get baskets like these at your local dollar store. I used Command Hooks and hung them up on the wall in my bathroom for a little extra storage.

Use dollar store containers to organize bathroom drawers

I used dollar tree baskets to organize my bathroom drawers check out that tutorial Easy Bathroom Organization, and you’ll see some of my dollar tree organization hacks. These plastic bins are great to hold little things.

How do you make an easy side table?

I found these wire baskets at Walmart for $2 apiece. You can also create this Dollar Tree hack with their wire trash cans. I flipped one trash can upside down and put E6000 on the bottom.

I placed the other trash can right side up on top of the 1st trashcan so that the 2 bases touched. You have a couple of choices for the last step… you can just rest a pizza pan on the top so that you can still get into the top basket for storage, or you can E6000 the pizza pan to the top for a more secure hold.

I now have a little side table that can be used inside or outside.

How do you make a hanging light fixture?

I found this basket at Walmart on clearance for $2 and since it had a hole in the bottom I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I bought a light socket kit and followed the directions on it to put the light together utilizing the hole in the basket. To make this a dollar store hack you can use their wire trash cans to make this hanging light fixture.

I hung it up and now it’s a light for my work space.

How Can I organize Cheaply?

Put Dollar Tree baskets together and create storage for any room.

Next on my list for my Dollar Tree hacks, I bought these dollar store baskets from Dollar Tree. Start by gluing 3 of the same sized basket together. After hot gluing to initially get them together I did place some E6000 for a more secure hold and let it dry.

The next step in this dollar store hack is to cut strips of pool noodles to go between the baskets and hot glue them into place. This will help the baskets stand up straight. For the bottom, I cut a section of pool noodle and then cut it in half. I hot glued the flat part of the noodle (so the rounded part would go on the floor) to what would become the bottom of the storage shelf.

Add some plastic baskets (I used different colors) inside your shelf and you have some extra storage bins where you might need it. Isn’t this a great Dollar Tree hack? It could be used for so many things this is an example of bathroom storage but you could also use it for toys, bedrooms, craft storage, etc.

Another dollar store hack is to turn a cheap basket into a beautiful gift basket.

I started by using a hot glue gun to attach a ribbon around your dollar store basket or bin. I went about halfway up the basket

Use a pillowcase or fabric to decorate the inside. I used a pillowcase and turned it inside out. I tucked it into the basket and rolled the top outside to cover the rest of the basket. The extra pillowcase fabric I just folded into the bottom nicely.

Fill the dollar store basket or bin up with items you need to store, or fill it with items and give it as a gift. In this example, I placed a couple of books, water, and snacks in a reading gift basket.

These are great gift ideas and make the perfect gifts for several occasions. Great for mom on Mother’s Day, fill them with gift cards, and candles, and use them instead of gift bags.

These great gift items can even be used as easy Easter crafts and make a great easter basket for easter egg hunts.

Use for Halloween, Christmas, and several times of the year.

These simple DIY gift basket ideas are great for even more fun like filling the bottom of the basket with chocolate, a treat, goodies, etc for kids and teens. I love going to my local dollar tree and creating an easy dollar tree gift basket. What a great birthday gift and as an added bonus, you can use these buckets as home decor and decorations.
